Experiencing reaction to cortisone from 2 injections in shoulder for ACL INJURY totaling 80mg. INJECTION 11am Wednesday. Symptoms of burning face and extreme redness of my face began late afternoon on Thursday. Cold compresses alleviated burning temporarily Took 25 mg OTC Benadryl at 10pm. Symptoms were subsiding and slept til 2am. Woke with symptoms returning. Cold compress again, Benadryl gel applied to face again. Took another 25mg Benadryl. Is this the correct treatment? How long might I expect it to last? Should I visit the ER? Symptoms were subsiding
Cortisone shots are injections that may help relieve pain and inflammation in a specific area of your body. They're most commonly injected into joints. one of the side effect of this drug is allergic reaction - along with joint infection allergic reaction, or anaphylactic shock, is the most serious of potential side effects following a joint injection.this will usually occurs when the person is allergic to any compound of the drug that is injected. other side effects facial flushing that usually last from 24 - 48 hrs, pain and skin depigmenttion. you can take antihistamine as of now but you need to visit your doctor and report is side effect of the drug.
