Suggest Treatment For Side Effects Of Creon

Hi, I have had 2 acute pancreatic attacks in the last year. I have been prescribed 12,000 units of Creon, 2 with a meal & I with a snack. Help!!! It s too strong & my GI doc says all enzymes are the same! I am having the WORST side effects: horrible body aches, joint pain & a headache that won t quit! I am on a vegan diet, except for an occasional piece of fish. My son found a veggie form of enzymes online that looks to have the same basic ingredients as Creon. Lately I have taken to breaking up the capsules - usually in 3 equal portions - and putting them in an empty capsule, but the side effects continue. I can t live like this - it s too painful! I know there are other enzymes out there - isn t there anything that won t produce such horrible side effects? Thank you! Marion

Hi,

Do not panic. Pancreatitis enzymes is Creon capsule only. You are getting treatment perfectly. Along with it, avoid alcohol to avoid diet rich in fatty foods like steak bacon. Eat freshly steamed vegetables and fruits with low fat diet and moderate amount of protein.
