Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had a severe reaction to Flagyl nearly 3 months ago. I continue to have daily outbreaks of red clawlike marks that itch that appear at different places over my body. Very itchy and generally look like someone has taken their nails and ran them across my skin. How long can I expect this reaction to last? My last one 3 years ago to clindamycin lasted 21 months.
If the symptoms continue to recur then probably you're getting a reaction to something else too.
So my suggestion is to consult an Allergist and get an Allergy test done so that the exact cause of the symptoms can be ruled out. You can also be advised a steroid shot to reduce the severity and recurrence of symptoms.
Also, start applying Caladryl lotion and do cool compresses over the skin for relief. You can also take antiallergics after consulting with Physician.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
