Suggest Treatment For Side Effects Of Minocycline

I stopped taking minocycline for my acne a week ago after being on it for 3.5 weeks. I stopped taking it because I started getting hives, a rash, terrible itching, swelling, joint/muscle pain and flu symptoms. Its a week later and I'm STILL having these symptoms?! How much longer will this be like this for?! Allergy meds and hydrocortisone cream are not working anymore!

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..

As per your complain it seems that the symptoms of rashes, hives and urticaria are due to allergic reaction to Minocycline and as you have taken the medication for a prolonged period of time it seems to be due to causing severe symptoms..
In case if you have no relief with the anti allergics and steroid crams you should consult an Allergist and get evaluated and he can advise you allergic testing like Patch test , RAST test and food challenge test to rule out the exact cause and treat you accordingly..
He can advise you injectable anti allergics and steroids to relieve the symptoms faster followed by oral medications..
Do cool compresses over the rashes and swellings and apply calamine lotion..
Drink plenty of water to reduce the effect of the antibiotic as it will help in faster excretion..
