Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had the nexplanon implanted 4-5 weeks ago and had it removed a week ago because of horrible side effects. I developed a rash on my legs two weeks after the implant that looked like bug bites and now looks like chicken pox. It has spread to back of my arms, forearms and is now spreading to my back and stomach. I went to my dr three times who is now sending me to a dermatologist bc she thinks it s bacterial folliculitis. I m very active and in the water a lot but could this be a reaction to the implant. I never had anything until then.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
Allergic reaction to Nexplanon would have diminished & disappeared after removal of implant....but it is still continued..rather it's being aggravated ... suggesting it to be something else.
You need a detailed physical examination, blood work & culture & sensitivity test of the lesion. Please consult a dermatologist for specific evaluation followed by suitable antibiotic treatment.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
