Should I stop taking Progyluton? Hey doctor, so i ve started taking progyluton 2 weeks ago for my functional ovarian cyst .. I ve been having several side effects (headaches, feeling dizzy all the time and depression) but today I started having short breath.. And pressure in left side of my chest which got me worried cause it felt like a cardiovascular problem which I never had before.. Before taking these pills My doctor put me on birth control pills called Yasmeen for 2 months then He told me to stop taking it .. And I read that these pills can cause damage to heart and artieries so I don t know if this has anything to do with what i m suffering from I planned an appoinment with my doctor 2 days from now .. But I wanna know can I stop taking Progyluton? Or it s not safe and may affect my period .. Note I only have 7 pills left.. And I started taking it on 9th day of my cycle

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
Nausea & vomiting can be seen in begning of therapy....it vanishes as the person gets used to the drug. Take the pills at the same time of day to avoid sudden hormonal change in the body.
The Progyluton is to be avoided in case the patient has a history of asthma, blood pressure, diabetes, blood clots in the past or transient ischemic attack, liver problem, history smoking or cardiac ischemia in the past. If you have any of these, stop the pill & consult do for immediately.
A symptom of breathlessness & cardiovascular symptom needs to evaluate all the above points. Please see your treating doctor earliest.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
