Hello,
You were on
propranolol for a long period (over one year). you are experiencing numbness, tingling, pain in the joints, lack of motor movements, joint/
muscle pain. The symptoms mentioned are due to side effects of propranolol, any medicine when taken in excessive dose over a period of time causes side effects/adverse effects. With the help of your treating doctor you should gradually reduce the dose and if needed your doctor should prescribe some other medicine that suits you better.
Your nerves have got affected, take food rich in vitamin B6, B12 or supplements. Get examined by a
neurologist, get NCV test, blood works and imaging tests done to assess the degree of damage done to the nerves (neurological system). You will be treated accordingly. You have AST and ALT level elevated. Your AST and ALT levels are highly raised, it is indicative of developing liver problem. You are suggested to stay away from alcohol or addictions if any. Avoid fried food, oily or junk food. Do not take trans fat, full fat dairy products, red meat, food that is hard to digest.
Take boiled food with a dash of olive oil for a couple of months, repeat tests for AST and ALT, and other liver function tests every 45 days, slowly the levels will reduce provided you are on strict diet control and avoid all alcoholic drugs. Take liver tonics and enzymes (Aristozyme) to help digestion. You should get blood works, LFT,
Urinalysis, blood for bile, and imaging tests to study the details of
liver damage.
Alterations to both AST and ALT levels are normally indicative of liver injury, which can happen due to
hepatitis, cirrhosis, or
fatty liver. Your treating doctor should also prescribe other tests to check cardiac health, such as troponin, myoglobin and creatine phosphokinase (CPK) blood tests. You will be treated accordingly.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
