Suggest Treatment For Significant Looping And Extremely Long Colon
My Gastroenterologist told me today that I had significant looping and an extremely long colon when I had when I had my colonoscopy today. I had one 5 years ago. In the past I had extreme endometriosis. I had my uterous and ovaries removed. He was concerned the colonoscopy would be difficult. It turned out it wasn t. I had to return which was five years. Today, Dr. Briggs mentioned (see the above) but I didn t need to return for another 10 years. I assume that if it was anything significant that I would be seeing him sooner than 10 years. Is this just an anatomical construction that is nothing to be concerned about or something to be concerned about in later years.
Hi. Thanks for your query. Read your history and understood your concerns. Endometriosis, removal of ovaries and uterus noted. A long colon is just an anatomical variation if there are no symptoms pertaining to passing motion or having recurrent volvulous or constipation. Have proper diet, make a list of beverages and foods that cause constipation and stop them altogether. Review after 10 years as advised by your Gastroenterologist indicates that there is nothing to worry about. On a safe side get one barium enema done to see for probable complications in future.
