Hi dear , Sinus infections are caused by infections from a pathogenic microorganism like virus, bacterium, or fungus, which grows within a sinus and causes intermittent blockage of the sinus ostium. But in some cases allergen from the environment can also be a cause of sinusitis , even if they are not responsible for sinusitis they can exaggerate the condition . So i would suggest you to cover your face with mask while working if it is necessary or avoid it . Consult ENT specialist for proper diagnosis . Doctor may order some test to confirm the diagnosis and to find out exact cause like throat swab test , allergy test , virus culture test and blood test . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics ( amoxicillin or penicillin ) , Nasal corticosteroids like fluticasone and Decongestants like oxymetazoline . Doctor may also recommend Saline nasal irrigation .
