Suggest Treatment For Skipped Heart Beat

I believe my heart is skipping a beat. As I take my pulse (and my wife confirmed as well) it seems as if every fifth beat is absent. When this is occurring my chest feels heavy and I feel as if I need to breath deeply to help overcome this feeling. Should I be concerned? It has happened 3 or 4 times in the last seven days, but has occurred 10-12 times today.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

It seems your are having PVCs in your normal heart rhythm. This needs to be investigated so go to your cardiologist get your EKG and you might also need 24 hours Holter monitoring to check the total number of skip beats. Till then avoid caffeine and carbonated drinks as these can increase PVCs.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
