Suggest Treatment For Skipped Heart Beats In An Elderly Person
Hi Doctor, I have a heart that skips a beat every 3-5 beats. My Cardiologist says that it is nothing to be concerned about, since it has been going on for quite some time. I am a relatively young 81 years old, & hope to last several more years, but am concerned. What can you tell me? Bill Gorsline @ YYYY@YYYY
* The skipped heart beat without any symptoms can be related to normal age related slowing of conduction system or nodal pathway.
If fit physically and perform normal physical activities of day to day practice there is no need of any extra medications for this physiologic response.
However, if symptomatic , has to be treated with various measures.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
