Hi,

Sleep apnea is diagnosed quite accurately by the sleep studies. In fact, it's diagnosed if you snore a lot during sleep and suddenly get up short of breath or suffocate during sleep.

Then we do all this sleep study which checks the oxygen saturation drops during sleep.

The fact that you say that's your saturation is 96 when you go to washroom does not rule out sleep apnea because in sleep apnea the saturation becomes normal as you get up from sleep.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
