My daughter has ms. Her daughter aged 19 needs Han unusual amount of sleep. My daughter Was the same at her age. They are not alike physically but can she be displaying the same sleep pattern because she has learnt it from her mother , acquired, or has she inherited this disease? possibly? YYYY@YYYY
I can certainly understand your concern about the inheritable disease ie multiple sclerosis. It is not necessarily hereditary, however she has a higher chance of developing the disease as mother is suffering from that disease the percentage of risk increases from 2.5 to 5%, if there is family history when compared to 0.1% in normal population. But there is nothing to get panic as you can observe the early symptoms of multiple sclerosis like vision problems ,tingling and numbness sensation , weakness fatigue, any urinary symptoms, cognitive symptoms or any psychological disturbances, if you find any of the above symptoms you can immediately consult your doctor and get the required investigations like MRI, eye check up etc ... accordingly to rule out the disease.
There is a possibility that she can display the same sleep pattern as her mother but be cautious about the above symptoms at the same time.
please post your further questions if any I will always be available to answer your queries Thank you
