My mom is having sleep disorder for the past 7 year. She sleeps just 3-4 hours and wakes atleast 4 to 5 times at night. She feels sleepy and yawns too but when she goes to sleep she can't sleep. Whom should we consult for this problem? Please advice.
Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries
I can understand your concern. Sleep disorders especially insomnia is a common distressing problem. She is having problem in getting sleep and also have multiple awakening in night. This cause her to remain drowsy and she yawns a lot. In my opinion you should consult a psychiatrist or sleep specialist for her problem. Medicines especially Z-drugs like Zolpidem, Zopiclone etc can be used to induce sleep. Extended release tablets of Zolpidem can also control her multiple awakenings in night. I would also advise her to improve sleep hygiene. Medicines like Mirtazapine, Amitryptiline, Trazodone etc can also be utilised for poor sleep problems. Visit a psychiatrist for proper prescription.
Thanks, hope this helps you. Take care
