Suggest Treatment For Slight Pain Under The Tongue

This past Tuesday, I started to have a slight pain under my tongue on the left side.
Wednesday, my left lymph node started to enlarge.
Thursday, my left lymph node was very enlarged, like double normal. It started getting hard to open my mouth and a little difficult to swallow. I started using ice-packs, which helped quell the swelling a lot.
Friday, it was still double-sized, maybe even larger. It was very difficult to open my mouth large enough to eat but I could eat a little. I could swallow but with a little difficulty. Ice-packs helped immensely. With the swelling down, I could eat and drink.
Saturday, I awoke to find the swelling was significantly down, like 50% less. As the day progressed, the swelling got less and less.
Today, Sunday, it is almost back to normal. I can almost eat and drink normally without pain.
During this whole episode, I had no fever, or any other symptoms. I just had a swollen gland. The only pain I felt was touching the neck and opening my mouth to eat and swallow.
Thank you for your reply.

Hi......
Welcome to HCM..

So sorry to hear about your problem and will try to resolve it..

As per your complain it seems that you either had extremely swollen lymph nodes under the jaw or there is also a possibility that you are suffering from infection in the salivary gland leading to severe pain and swelling..

As it has now resolved it is a good sign, however fever is not a compulsory finding in case of infection if you have a good resistance and immunity..

In case if the symptoms recur you should consult an Oral or general physician and get evaluated and a clinical evaluation and blood culture can help in ruling out the exact cause of infection and can be treated accordingly..

You can be advised a course of antibiotics, anti inflammatory painkillers along with cold compresses..

Hope this helps..

Regards..
