Suggest Treatment For Slightly Open Wound After Gluing Achilles Tendon Rupture
I lacerated my achilles heel last Thursday. I opted for glue rather than stitches. The wounbd is slightly open and there is a slight amount of pus, the wound is red and inflamed but only mildly sore. I had a course of antibiotics last week for a tooth abscess and don t want any more. I have antibiotic cream. Should I leave the wound open or dress it?
Since the wound is still slightly open and there is still pus you are suggested to clean the wound with antiseptic lotion and get antiseptic dressing done. It would be better if you would visit ER, get clinically examined, get it cleaned and dressing done. You may need a course of antibiotics for better and faster healing. Do not get the wound infected, apply ointment Bacitracin / Neosporin. Do not touch or scratch. Cut on carbohydrate and sugar intake in your diet. High blood glucose delays healing. Do not do excess walking, stay at rest.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
