Suggest Treatment For Small Blisters Underneath The Tongue

My eight year old grandson has a small series of blister looking balls on a string like skin vein underneath his tongue. The blisters are the size of a straight pin head and cluster together around the skin tag unearth his tongue. He said it hurt a little.
Twice in the last 3 months he has gone to the doctor to have the gland on the left side of his neck looked at. It swells and looks like the mumps, then diminishes. Doc said it might be food allergy but to note what he was eating when it suddenly swelled. Halo oranges were one culprit, Doritos and Cheetos another time. It occurred when he was eating citrus and Doritos in the past. I don't know if these are related, but both were in a similar time frame.
My sister, a nurse had never seen this type of growth underneath a tongue. Any ideas.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain small clusters of blisters or bumps under the tongue that has a tendency to recur can be due to viral infection causing cold sores and is caused be Herpes Simplex Virus 1..
It can also be due to allergic reaction to some unknown allergen..

I would suggest you to consult an Infectious Medicine Specialist and get him evaluated and a clinical examination, swab culture from the area of bumps and blood tests can help in diagnosis and treatment can be advised accordingly..

In case of allergic reaction anti allergics like Benadryl can be advised along with avoiding exposure to allergen once the allergen is ruled out..
In case of viral infection anti viral medication like Acyclovir, Valacyclovir etc can be advised..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
