Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi I am a 33 year old female. I have fairly sensitive skin and sometimes break out due to stress or diet. Years ago I noticed I would get a pea sized lump behind my ear and one day I applied a heat compress and drained it. It was yellowish smelly puss with a little blood. After sometime it went away and never had an issue ...until now. I've noticed a few small bumps behind both ears. I don't understand why this is happening. I have pretty good skin now and very rarely have a blemish on my face but, these tiny little smelly things are back.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain small bumps behind the ears seems to be due to infection in hair follicles caused by Staphylococcus bacteria and is k own as Folliculitis.. I would suggest you to consult a General Physician and get evaluated and he can do a clinical evaluation and advise investigations as per suspected cause and treatment can be done accordingly.. In case if Folliculitis is ruled out you can be advised to take a course of antibiotics, anti inflammatory painkiller.. Topical application of antibiotic and steroid ointment can be advised.. Do cool compresses over the bumps.. Maintain a good hygiene in the areas..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora..
