Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I just noticed this morning very small bumps on my hands and some fingers, some are located on my palms. When I came from work tonight my heels felt itchy and took off my shoes and have the same bumps on them as well. I was given amoxicillin after having a tooth removed, I took the last of the medication this morning, could the amoxicillin be causing the rash?
Allergic reactions to medications normally start at least 2 to 3 days after the medication was started. If you were at this stage then it is possible that it is the antibiotic, but if your course was longer and you were at day 7, then it is not likely.
It is possible that the reaction is due to some chemical agent that came into contact with your hands or it may be due to a viral infection called hand , foot and mouth disease, though this is more common in children.
The use of anti histamine would help the itching. If the rash continues or worsens or there are additional symptoms, then you should see a doctor.
I hope this helps
