Suggest Treatment For Small Itchy Patches On The Torso

My husband, 60 yrs old. Had mild case of shingles about 5 wks ago, followed by a mild case of poison ivy 2 1/2wks afterward. Now 4 wks since shingles cleared up , he has various small raised, extremely itchy spots in very small patches. Legs , groin, feet, arms, and a few on upper torso. Checked the dogs, no fleas. Checked the beds, sofas, no bugs (thank god ) . Mosquitoes have been highly active here on the eastern shore. You are a feast to them when you go outside. Any ideas? Appreciate the input. Thank you!

Hi Dear,

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of small itchy patches on the torso which seems to be due to be seborrheic keratosis ,acne , allergic eczema , psoriasis and contact dermatitis.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to keep yourself in moist environment , do not apply cosmetic product on face , also avoid hard soaps . apply cold compresses on itchy bumps to reduce itchiness and inflammation and take over the counter antihistamine like benadryl . Also avoid direct sun exposure to your skin as it can worsen the condition . If condition doesn't get well then consult dermatologist for proper examination . Doctor will examine physically , take history and go for allergy test . Doctor may prescribe anti allergic , anti inflammatory and corticosteroid ointment .

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
