Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had a fleshy lump on my right kneecap for about two months. This lump measures about 1 and 1/4 inch and has grown in the last week. It is not painful, but is certainly not attractive. I had knee surgery on Sept 2 for a torn meniscus and this lump was there at the time, only about half this size. Please give advice as to what I should do. I am still having physical therapy for the knee surgery problem.
Fleshy and non-painful lump is likely to be lipoma or cyst or ganglion but without clinical examination,it is very difficult to diagnose it correctly.
If it is certainly lipoma or cyast then there is no need to be worried as it can be treated with appropriate medical or surgical intervention.
However,if it does not painful or troublesome then you can leave it or should see an orthopedic doctor who will carefully examine it and may guide you.
