Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi there, I recently hit my shin very hard when jumping down off a box, and cut my leg open resulting in stitches. This has now healed fine and the stitches have been removed. My problem is that at least a week after the injury , the inside of my ankle on the bone is very sore and I have bad purple bruising in the inside of my foot . I am wondering if this is anything to be concerned about ? thanks
Noted the history of stitches on the leg after hit on shin but developing soreness on ankle after one week may indicate an impacted fracture of the affected areas.
Hence I would advise you the following: Get the wound inspected by a Surgeon so that any evidence of an infection can be ruled out and the possibility of fracture confirmed by appropriate X-rays to know whether there is any fracture or so.
If there is any fracture then may need fixing. If infection then may need a course of antibiotic and to continue an anti-inflammatory medications along with rest to the area. If fracture is there then it may require plaster. Take care and follow the advise of your surgeons.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant,
