i slipped on ice at work today and landed on the upper section of my left thigh, although the pain was not present immediately, it started about an hour later, causing distortion in my posture while standing up, the lower right side of my back is now very tense and my body is lob-sided. what can i do accelerate recovery? thanks.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Pain can start hours or days after an initial injury.

The main aspects of treatment to help aid recovery would be: (1) rest the affected areas as much as possible, this may mean restricting some movements

(2)the use of ice compresses would also help

(3) if any swelling occurs, elevation and compression bandages would help

(4)anti inflammatory pain medication such as ibuprofen, cataflam, naproxen- would reduce the pain

(5)if the muscles are still tense then a muscle relaxant may also be required.

I hope this helps
