hello, i have a really sore reddish patch on my gum that is not symetrical or round... it doesnt look like an ulcer, it is not white. it almost looks like a graze but i dont remember hurting it. ive had another small patch of gingivitus and am on antibiotics... but this has come when im well into the course. also, its not near the gumline around the bottom of the tooth but below it. ive just found that im iron deficient. would that have anything to do with mouth sores. im always worried about cancer.
The red patches probably are canker sore occur due to iron deficiency and antibiotics . They usually go away by there own or when the underlying cause is corrected .

Hi Dear, Welcome to HCM. The red patches probably are canker sore occur due to iron deficiency and antibiotics . They usually go away by there own or when the underlying cause is corrected . I would suggest you to :- Do warm saline rinses . Do betadine rinses twice a day . Start taking iron supplement . Stop taking antibiotics if there is no need . If condition doesn t get better then consult oral pathologist for proper examination . Doctor may take history and examine it physically to rule out causes like dental abscess and herpes .
