Suggest Treatment For Sore Throat Along With Swollen Epiglottis

Hi. I am 22 years old with no serious health issues. My symptoms started two weeks ago. My throat felt warm constantly, much like it does when you throw up. Yesterday, I lost my voice. When I got home, I stuck my tongue out in order to look at my throat, and I saw my epiglottis (at least I m pretty sure that s what I saw) for the first time ever. Is there any reason to be concerned?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to a laringitis. I suggest using anti inflammatory medications such as Acetaminophen to relieve the inflammation in the larynx. I also suggest to drink liquids. If the symptoms continue for more than a few days, I suggest to see an ENT specialist for a physical examination.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
