Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had a severe sore throat come on suddenly a month ago. My doc put me on z pack for 5 days and things felt better but never completely gone. It’s been a month now and I am still suffiering from a sore throat, that seems to only be on one side and switches. It makes my ear hurt. Hurts when chewing and swallowing. I don’t feel congested or have a runny nose. Thoughts?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
I would explain that your symptoms could be related to a local infection. For this reason, I recommend consulting with your attending physician for a physical exam and a throat discharge bacterial culture, in order to investigate for a possible infection. Consulting with an ENT specialist may be needed, if your symptoms persist.
Hope you will find this answer helpful!
Kind regards,
Dr. Iliri
