Suggest Treatment For Sore Throat And Feeling Of Lump In It

I am worried about indigestion and heartburn and occasionally a pain in my back when swallowing which really hurts. I don t get this pain every time I eat -I don t know when it will come. I ve had some form of indigestion for about 8 days now. I am taking iron - ferrous sulphate but have had to lower the dose a bit because of bowel side-effects. My indigestion is better today but I have a sore throat now which feels like I have a ball in it. I m 46, female and I know I am overweight.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Most probably it will be pharyngitis or tonsillitis. Consult a general practitioner and start a short course of antibiotics. Do warm saline gargles also.

Nothing much to worry and most cases respond well to antibiotics. In severe cases a throat swab may be needed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
