Suggest Treatment For Sore Throat And Fever

Sore throat started yesterday afternoon - purchased CEPACOL maximum strength - throat still sore all day.. hurts to swallow - but I am able to swallow - (throat feel as if it has a burn regardless of activity); I am a little tired..no fever to speak of.. and I think ... I took a home made tongue suppressor and flashlight to look at throat - it seems to be RED on one side.. (at least it is on the side that hurts) - there is a lot of white - but I think it s normal white.. it is not raised.. and covers the entire throat.. do not know if I have been exposed.. I have been traveling.. and I would see my physician - but I m out of town and my insurance does not cover outside network (EPO)... I just generally don t get sick... I do have DOCTOR ON DEMAND (covered) - which I will call if you suggest that - just not sure they will be able to see anything on a smart phone...

Sore throat along with redness of throat and white appearrence is indicative of infection that can be either bacterial or viral in origin..

So my suggestion is to consult an Emergency room and get evaluated and a thorough clinical examination and a throat swab culture can be done for confirmation..

You can be advised a course of antibiotics and anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen, also do warm saline gargles, antiseptic mouthwash gargles and suck throat lozenges..
Chew Vitamin C pellet daily for relief..
Avoid chilled and spicy foods..
