Suggest Treatment For Sore Throat And Hoarsness

I have sleeping with a cpap machine on all night for 6 years. The past four months my voice becomes progressively worse as the day goes on. My voice becomes sore and hoarse. I added water to my machine with little change. I have taken to gargling with salt water and that helps some. What would you advise? V/R. Hal

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to laryngitis. I suggest using anti-inflammatory medication such as Ibuprofen three times a day to relieve the inflammation.

I also suggest using a throat spray. I recommend drinking liquids and rest. If the symptoms continue, antibiotics may be needed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
