Hi Dear,
Welcome to HCM.
Understanding your concern.
The symptoms you mention in query are pointing towards a condition known as
tonsillitis . It occurs due to may reasons but untreated upper
respiratory tract infection is most common reason for tonsillitis ( as in your case )
You should not ignore it as the can get complicated . Some times untreated tonsillitis make tonsils to burst and the
tonsillectomy will be the only option left .
I would suggest you to :-
- Do warm saline rinses several times a day .
- Take ibuprofen ( if not allergic ) or tylenol for pain and swelling .
- Take bendryl .
Consult ENT specialist (ear, nose, throat) for proper examination .
Doctor may order
blood test or throat swab test to confirm the diagnosis .
Doctor may prescribe broad spectrum antibiotics like amoxicilline for at least two weeks .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Best Wishes,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
