Hii , Welcome To HCM & Thanks For Asking Your Query Here
I have gone through Your query and will try to provide information you need on it
surgery is not the only option even in
Severe GERD cases
you need to understand the underlying cause of your GERD because for every individual , triggers for Acid Reflex are different and in most cases it can be easily controlled by medication and life style changes
Doctor generally prescribe medicine called
Proton pump inhibitors like pantoperazole , but is is advisable to
consult a Gastroenterologist Before starting any new medicine
there are variety of causes which may cause GERD including
-LES abnormalities,hiatal
hernias,,abnormal esophageal contractions, and
-slow or prolonged emptying of the stomach
but it needs a thorough medical check up and investigation to rule out the underlying cause
apart from this it can also be due to
gluten sensitivity due to wheat (try to switch from wheat products to rice in that case)
also there are many contributing factors like obesity , less physical activity and exercise , stress ,etc
you need to motivate yourself and try at your level best to change your life style including -
-Don't go to bed with a full stomach
-Don't overeat
-Eat slowly
-Wear loose-fitting clothes
-Avoid GERD triggers- foods and beverages that trigger your
heartburn symptoms
-Stop Alcohol and
smoking if you do
-Exercise and loose some weight if you are over weight
-Raise the head of your bed
But before all this i would strongly advise that you must visit a Gastroenterologist to rule out the exact cause of your illness
I hope it help
