Suggest Treatment For Sore Throat, Fever, Chills And Sinus Congestion

My friend had sinus congestion, sore throat, lung congestion, fever, chills and other flu-like symptoms which lasted for about 6 weeks. He was relatively okay for about a month, then all the symptoms have returned. Is there some kind of super-flu going around and what s the best way to treat it?

Hello,

It looks like flu and if not cured completely or immunized, it can recur or continue to worsen. So my suggestion is to consult an otolaryngologists or an emergency doctor and get checked. A blood test can be done for confirmation. For now he can take supportive treatment like:

1. Gargle with a warm saline solution that is by mixing 1 teaspoon salt in a glass of water and warm it to make a lukewarm solution.
2. Take a combination of decongestant like Phenylephrine, mucolytic like Ambroxol. Anti-allergic Levocetrizine and another combination of Acetaminophen and Ibuprofen.
3. Do steam inhalations.
4. Avoid spicy and chilled foods.
5. Sip on warm water throughout the day.

Hope I have answered your query.
