Suggest Treatment For Sore Throat, Swallowing Difficulty And Nasal Discharge

I had a severe sore throat 6 weeks ago. Not strep, I have a similar one now...sudden onset, no fever, chills, body aches, trouble swallowing (now bad enough that I can t swallow saliva or warm tea). Also have nasal discharge...infection and yellow streaked with red in throat. Symptom checker isn t really helping me narrow this down. Suggestions?

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello,

I suggest you to get a throat swab culture as well as nasal discharge culture and drug sensitivity to identify the suitable bacteria. Recurrent sore throat may be due to some resistant strain of bacteria.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shailja Puri, Pathologist and Microbiologist
