hi there. i had swollen left gland in my throat 2 weeks ago that was painless.i get prescribed antibiotics for 7 days.the anti biotics reduced the swelling and went back to normal.a week later i am now suffering from a sore throat although my gland is not swollen.i have some red patches on my soft pallet.please help i am very worried
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..
As per your complain sore throat along wit red patches on soft palate and swollen tonsils or tonsillitis can be due to a number of causes like throat infection caused by bacteria or virus, acid reflux, post nasal drip, sinusitis etc.. I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and he can advise you a throat swab culture and also check for pH of the throat to rule out for acid reflux so that treatment can be planned accordingly.. The physician can advise you antibiotics, anti-inflammatory painkiller, warm saline gargles and steam inhalations for the same.. Suck throat lozenges.. In case of acid reflux proton pump inhibitors and antacids can be advised..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora..
