Suggest Treatment For Soreness At Base Of Penis After Unprotected Sex
Hi doctor, I had sex with on sex worker 3 months back with all the time using the condom while having oral and vaginal sex. I had little sore at the base of the penis which was not open? Now after three months I have developed sore throat, it might be because I had drank lots of iced water couple of days before but I am suffering from fever after development no the sore throat. Is there possibilities of having HIV infection due to having sexual encounter before three months? Please reply as I am really worried.
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. From the description you have posted, it appears that you have taken precautions while you had intercourse with sex worker. However, since you are having some symptoms after 3 months and also you are doubting about sexually transmitted illness (STI), kindly get the following tests done. 1. VDRL to rule out syphilis. 2. HIV for HIV infection. If they are negative, you can relax. If any one or both are positive, then you need to contact Venereologist for appropriate management. Hope the information provided is clear. All the best.
