Suggest Treatment For Soreness In Neck And Pain In Ear
My father is 91. He has a temp of 100.4. He was outside today using a grabber to pick up pine cones. Several hours ago. He says his neck is sore mostly in the back, the top of his head is sore to the touch, and he gets sharp pain in his right ear?
Hi Thanks for posting on HCM That sounds like an upper respiratory infection. Most respiratory infection are associated with ear pain or ear infection given the communication between your ear and throat through the Eustachian tube. Most of these infections are of viral origin and will need only symptomatic treatment. However, bacteria infection is also possible.Apart from infection, the symptoms could also be caused by allergy.I will however suggest the following: -Pain/antipyretic medication like tylenol -An anti-histamin like loratadine -Gargle with warm salt water many times per day -Avoid cold, dust and smoke -Take enough fluids If the symptoms persist, i will advise you see the Doctor to examine your throat and ear and judge the need for antibiotics. Hope my answer will help you Best regards
