Hello,

I can understand your concern. If you have not actually burn your tongue, it seems that either you are suffering from an allergic reaction or have viral infection.

If it is the viral infection, then no treatment against virus is necessary. Body's immune system will eliminate the infection on its own in 7-10 days while only supportive treatment for your comfort can be given.

Thus, I would advise you to start application of local Benzocaine gel (Mucopain) over the painful areas. You can apply this gel 3-4 times a day and especially before meals for painless eating. In addition, you should start Vitamin B complex supplements (B-Folcin) once a day for 15 days. You can also take Rebagen tablet thrice a day for 5 days.

In case it is due to allergy, you can start antihistamine such as Levocetrizine 5 mg (Levocet) or Loratidine 10 mg (Lorfast) once a day for 5 days. Antihistamines can be taken along with all the supportive therapy listed above.

However, if you do not feel better in a week, then a consultation with the dentist is required for clinical examination of the tongue and further investigations for diagnosis and treatment.

I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. I wish you feel better soon.

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
