Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have two large ulcers in the same place on my labia minors - one on each side. They became ulcers about 2 days ago and I ve never had anything like this before. I have been with the same partner for 8 months, he has never had sores like that either. We had anal then vaginal sex 3 days ago - and day after these ulcers occurred. What should I do?
Hello and welcome to HCM, Ulcers on genital region is suggestive of sexually transmitted disease (STD) in first place. Although the ulcer can occur due to infections other than STDs but STD has to be ruled out. Painless ulcers on genitalia are most often due to syphilis. Painful ulcers are due to infection with Hemophilus ducrei. I suggest you to consult your gynecologist or a dermatologist for clinical assessment and investigations. Your partner also needs to investigated simultaneously. If STD is ruled out, then other causes of infection have to be looked for and managed accordingly. Till the time infection is treated, protected sex is suggested.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
