I just had an MRI of my T spine done. Can you tell me what this means and if anything should be done about it? Comparison study: None Indication:Concern for spinal canal stenosis. Thoracic spine pain. Technique: A noncontrast MRI of the lumbar spine was performed with the following sequences: 1. Sagittal inversion recovery prepared T1 fast spin-echo, STIR and T2 fast spin-echo. 2. Axial T2 fast spin-echo. 3. Sagittal diffusion weighted imaging. Findings: The alignment of the thoracic spine is within normal limits. There is no evidence of acute osseous or ligamentous injury. Vertebral body heights are maintained. C7-T1: A small posterior disc protrusion is seen with mild spinal canal stenosis. T5-6: Left paracentral focal disc protrusion with flattening of the anterior surface of the spinal cord, but no spinal canal narrowing. Mild left foraminal stenosis. T6-7: Mild right paracentral/lateral disc osteophyte complex with mild foraminal narrowing. Spinal canal and left foramen are not narrowed. T7-8: Symmetric disc bulging without spinal canal or foraminal narrowing. T8-9: Right paracentral disc protrusion contacting the anterior surface of the spinal cord, but without deformity of the spinal cord. Mild right foraminal narrowing. No abnormal spinal cord signal is seen. The visualized portions of the chest and abdomen are grossly within normal limits. Impression 1. Multiple small midthoracic disc protrusions, with mild flattening of the anterior surface of the spinal cord at some levels, but no high-grade spinal canal or foraminal encroachment. No abnormal spinal cord signal.
