Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My brother who is 39 recently had his gallbladder removed and during the process the doctors found he has a Splenic Artery Aneurysm. We consulted with one practice and they said they want to schedule for surgery and remove a vein from his leg to replace it. This is a very invasive and major surgery so we consulted another practice who was very confident this is not something that needs to happen immediately. They said it was only 2cm and they usually do the surgery at 3cm and he most likely had this since birth. I am torn from which to lean towards. I am my brothers rep payee and the decision is mine. In my mind no surgery is best case and the doctors that suggested no surgery also provided more information that the other practice did not. So I am just looking for some more advice on the subject. Thanks!
If the size is small only observation is required. No need to undergo a major surgery. The other possible option which is less invasive is embolization it coiling which can be done by an intervention radiologist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
