Suggest Treatment For Spotting While On Microgynon

I ve been on microgynon 30 for about 3 years, and have never had any side effects. I ve started living with my sisters and have experienced spotting/a light period when they are on their period but I just put it down that we where in sync and that I was stressed due to a massive job change. However this month my period came early despite the fact I wanted to double pack! Is the pill coming less effective for me? Should i change brand?

Thanks for posting on HCM
Efficacy of this drug may not be judged by your symptoms.Spotting could be a side effect.However,such effects are expected in women just starting to use at least in the first few months.After 3 years on it, i will suggest you get investigated by the Gynecologist.Possible causes of spotting may include:
-Side effects of the drug
-Hormonal imbalances/ovarian dysfunction
-Pelvic masses like fibroids, cancer, cysts...
-PID/STI
-Pregnancy/related complications since not 100%effective even though efficiency very high
I will suggest you see your Gynecologist for examination and investigation.You may need a pelvic ultrasound and PID/STI work-ups.If no cause identified, a hormonal work may be requested.Your treatment will depend on underlying cause.
