Suggest Treatment For Spreading Rash And Itchy Hives

i was in florida 2 weeks ago and got a bite on my neck, did not feel the bite and did not see any flying insects in the backyard. bite got to be pea sized in about 30 minutes and very itchy. about 4 inches of my skin surrounding the bite became red and irritated from my scratchmg. within the hour i washed the skin and applied HCT 1% otc cream. that helped a little. then the pain started in the bite. still painful and itchy the next day, i asked a neighbor about it and he said it could be a tree ant bite. didnt see any ants. still very itchy and skin surronding it aboot 5 in diameter is pink , ithcy and has lots of elevated red dots, not hives. dots area bee bee sized and rash is spreading. what could this be? ive applied HCT CREAM TID DAILY.

Thanks for the query..

It looks like a bite only and probably a poisonous insect/bee/ wasp etc..
The spreading itchy area is due to allergic reaction..
You should continue to apply Hydrocortisone cream as it will help in reducing itching and inflammation..
Along with it you should also start taking anti-allergics like Levocetrizine to reduce the allergic reaction..
Take a close look at the bite site and check if any stinger is embedded under the skin..
You should also do cool compresses over the area and apply Calamine lotion..
Avoid scratching the area as it can cause spreading of the inflammation and infection..
In case if still there is no improvement or the symptoms continue to worsen consult an Emergency room and get evaluated..
