i HAVE A SPUR ON MY RIGHT ANKLE. THERAPY AND MEDICATION HAS NOT HELPED. mY DOCTOR IS NOW RECOMMENDING A TENDON REPAIR AND CALCANEAL PARTIAL OSTECTOMY. hE IS YOUNG , DO i NEED TO BE CONCERNED ABOUT TH NUMBER OF THESE PROCEDURES HE HAS PERFORMED OR IS IT RATHER ROUTINE?
Usually, if spur is very small, local cortisone injectons once in 3 weeks are given and ultrasound therapy,anti-inflammatory drugs, physical therapy given. most cases benefit symtomatically. In case it is larger and obstructing tendo achilles and interfering with foot flexion/extension, surgical excision is undertaken.trust your doc. he must be doing it frequently, young surgeons are also competent.
