Suggest Treatment For Staphylococcus Hominis Infection In A Child
Hi, my friend s baby is 5 weeks old & has had high temp 102 so she went to Cedar Sinai hospital & they admitted him. They ran a lot of blood tests & xrays & today (3 days later) they say it is Staph hominis. My questions: ~Is it dangerous or treatable, they say he must stay in hospital 15 days, is that normal for so long? ~Is it contagious should I not visit ?
It is rare infection, in most cases it will response with antibiotics. IV antibiotics and ICU care is required as the immunity of infants will be low compared to adults.
Fve to seven days of ICU care is required. Nothing to worry and the treatment is in the right track.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain
