General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM. I have gone through your query. Your problem can be due to viral infection of throat and lymph node enlargement. If that is not the cause then it can be throat irritation from acid reflux and secondary bacterial infection. Taking proton pump inhibitors like esomeprazole ( Nexium ) and antibiotics like Azithromycin or Co-amoxiclav will be helpful for this. Avoid coffee. You can take tea with ginger and honey, chewable vitamin C. You can also use throat lozenges. Hot fomentation on neck and gargling with warm saline is also good.
Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
