Suggest Treatment For Stiffness And Soreness In Lower Back

Hi have stiff sore lower back pain for a month. On paracetamol and 500g naproxen. In the last week had three flare ups and ended up in A&E on diazepam and morphine. CRP levels are up to 17, spiking high temperatures, general feeling of unwell. Had a CT scan as discitus was suspected but was told that wasn t the case but they have found inflammation in the gut, they now want me on steroids. Confused and don t know what s causes this back pain and extreme flare ups

Back pain can be caused by issues with the vertebra or muscles in the back but it can also be related to one or more of the abdominal organs.

This means that examination and assessment of the abdomen and the back would be needed.
There are also systemic diseases such as autoimmune diseases (lupus, RA, scleroderma) and infections that can cause back pain.

Your GP should be able to do an initial assessment and refer you if needed.
Blood tests and additional imaging would be needed.
