Hi - I have a part-time day job and also work two 12hr night shifts - so I have 5 nights sleep a week and no sleep in the day. When I work the night shifts I bloat terribly. I do not eat on night shift as I have eaten normally in the daytime. Can I do anything to stop the bloat? Many thanks
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of stomach bloating. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like
- lack of fibres in diet - constipation - irritable bowel syndrome - intolerance to dairy products or other food items - eating too fast - overgrowth of bacteria in the small bowel - giardiasis
Need not to worry. You should take plenty of fluids and avoid intake of spicy and sharp food substances. I would suggest you to avoid food like dairy products , drink warm water. You should do light exercises and eat light and non spicy food. If condition doesn't get well then consult gastroenterologist for proper examination. Doctor may prescribe H2 blockers , proton pump inhibitor along with antibiotics and anti inflammatory .
Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
