How long shoukd an adult have cramping and diarrhea before seeking medical attention. Been almost 2 days in a normal otherwise healthy 41 year old male. Started with aches and pains and low grade fever 2 days ago. Niw just cramping and diarrhea remain.
Hello and welcome to HCM, Fever, abdominal cramping and diarrhea need medical attention. All these symptoms suggest gastrointestinal (GIT) infection. GIT infection commonly occurs due to food poisoning. You can get a stool examination before starting with any medication. Stool examination will determine the presence of ova or cyst. If ova or cyst are present antimicrobial treatment can be started. In case bacterial infection is detected, antibiotic therapy can be started.
Hi, Thanks for writing your query. After reading your post, it seems that you might be having infection of the gastrointestinal tract and needs medical management.
I would advise that you should take an antacid like Omeprazole 40mg along with an antispasmodic like Dicyclomine for relief from abdominal pain. Infection can be cured by taking an antibiotic and antiamoebic. A probiotic along with digestive enzyme preparation will have added benefits. Fever can be cured by taking paracetamol 500mg. You should take any medicines after getting yourself clinically examined by your doctor. I hope this is helpful to you. Thanks.
