Ok, yesterday, I woke up nauseous, burping, which turned into vomiting. It only lasted a day but my husband caught this bug too and is still having those symptoms. I ve never had the constant belching with an upset stomach. GasX and pepto didn t help at all. What was that?
Hi, Stomach infection could be gastritis or gastroenteritis leading to nasea, burp or vomiting. Causes of gastritis are helico-bactor pylori infection, oily and spicy diet,or acute gastroenteritis due to toxins of contaminated food from infections like bacteria, virus, parasite etc. You can go for routine blood count,ESR,urinalysis with ultrasound abdomen with upper GI endoscopy to rule out other gastric pathology and to confirm gastric inflammation. You may require H2 blockers like ranitidine or proton pump inhibitors (pantoprazole, rabeprazole) etc with cryoprotective drugs like sucralfate, misoprostol etc. It underlying cause is H.pylori then you will require triple drug regimen means two antibiotics and PPI. Consult your gastroenterologist for further advice
