Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

Welcome to HCM and thanks for your query.
Doxycycline is a molecule that can produce severe inflammation and ulceration of the food pipe or the stomach if it sticks to it. I have seen some bad ulcers at endoscopy due to the same.
I recommend my patients to take it with their food or with fluids so that there is no chance that it sticks anywhere.
Don't worry it will heal in a few days. You can take antacids, a proton pump inhibitor or sucralfate to help heal faster. Also avoid spicy or acidic foods like lemon, orange, tomatoes , vinegar etc.
If you have more queries you are welcome to ask.
Wish you quick relief,
Dr. Noble Zachariah
